She's been shopping and gotten herself a specially made kimono as well as had her hair done.

Geisha (at least those made by the virus) are obsessed with embodying art in general and a one art form in specific, in Mariko's case, that would still be cheerleading...so she'd probably be louder and more vocal than most Geisha.

Essentially, she is her own masterpiece in progress. She would probably also be interested in becoming competent at more traditional arts.
