"My calling came late," the tall half-elf noted as he worked at maintaining his blades. "And even then I originally thought to serve a different one. I made a bargain for the life of my sister. The Raven Queen accepted the bargain and I went, unwillingly at first into her service. Was your experience similar?"

The small framed woman he was talking to paused and thought. "I was a child, someone in the clan had the idea to expand the warren under the city and broke into a hidden crypt. Shadows consumed us and were it not for Kelemvor's priests and paladins, I would not be here. I've devoted myself to his service ever since. Still remember some of the old clan tricks though."

There was a twinkle in her eye as she made a dagger disappear with a sleight of hand the much more accomplished rogue saw through easily.

"You have an interesting assortment of weapons for a rogue, Jhessail," the half-elf noted as he looked on the gear she was maintaining.

"Smashing bones," she said, lifting a mace, "impaling hearts," this time she noted the javelin before turning to the hand axe "and dismembering bodies. Undead have very messy and particular requirements to put them to rest."

"I've always found that dagger, dagger, dagger works quite well, actually."

"Yeah, well, you have a small arsenal of magic on you, Vax'Ildan," the wererat noted. Some of us have to make due with silver and ritual.

"Do you like your god?" the half-elf asked after a pause.

"With all my heart and soul," the woman noted without hesitance. "Do you, your lady?"

"I've...come to appreciate her," the half-elf noted. "You've had no issue with the gods?"

"Oh, I have issue with a certain beast god," Jhessail noted, sighing. "I'm a wererat, natural born. We tend to be polyamorous and...we don't do well alone."

"And what does this have to do with a beast god?" Vax'Ildan asked.

"Being born this way means the curse can't twist me," she explained. "But I still carry it. How can I take a husband, a wife, or even a lover for a night. When the risk is Malar's curse will pass from my blood to theirs and twist them to his savagery?"

"I think I know how you feel," the Raven Queen's champion noted. "I had just found love myself, but now. Now I'm living on borrowed time and she will live a very long time." He paused and shook himself out putting a smile on his face. "But enough of this, how about a few songs and some pints of ale."

"You're on," the wererat said with a smirk.
